Spring Break Camp Descriptions

Theatre IA & IB (5-7 years) and Theatre II (8-12 years)

Theatre campers will be transported to Dragon Country as they develop a story and create a script, but watch out for the Ogres and Trolls!  These campers will learn theatre basics through hands-on games and activities in a fun environment of imagination.  Lots of laughs and creativity are the key for campers to prepare for an exciting Friday performance for family and friends.

Dance I (5-7 years) and Dance II (8-12 years)

Dance campers will move and groove their way through Dragon Country!  Dancers will play fun movement games, learn combos, and create original dance performances.  No experience or special shoes are required, and dance styles will be jazz and hip hop.  All dancers will get to take their show on stage when they give their performance on Friday.

Magic I (5-7 years) and Magic II (8-12 years)

Wow and dazzle all of your friends by learning tricks from the professionals!  Practice sneaky sleight of hand, captivating card tricks, mystical mind reading, and much more, including showmanship and performance skills.   At the end of the week campers can call themselves true magicians and show off their tricks in a one of a kind magical performance.

Camp Performances

Winter and Spring Break Camps will include an end-of-camp performance.  Winter and Spring Break Camp performances will take place in the Burg Theatre in the Kirkpatrick Fine Arts Center on the Oklahoma City University campus, just across the street from the Children’s Theatre building.  Performances are free of charge and all friends and family are invited to watch.  Since the performances are devised by the campers and teachers, camcorders and cameras are allowed and encouraged!

Our Philosophy & Approach to Education

In its 24th year of offering educational programming and theatrical performances, Oklahoma Children’s Theatre continues to build a fun and inviting atmosphere for all students to create, imagine, and experiment in the arts. There is a place for everyone in the theatre, whether you enjoy creating your own characters, designing costumes, building props, you’re a new actor or a seasoned pro, Oklahoma Children’s Theatre explores it all! Master teaching artists from around Oklahoma return each year to work with campers on their creative drama skills. Many of our instructors, assistants, and volunteers are alumni of Oklahoma Children’s Theatre programming.  Our instructors are professional theatre artists or theatre students, and most importantly, all love sharing the gift of theater.  In addition all employees have undergone an OSBI background check. Oklahoma Children’s Theatre arts education programs are accessible for children of every ability, ethnicity, and economic background. To promote the best in self-expression and individual positive attention, class size is limited to 15 campers. Now in its new home at Oklahoma City University, Oklahoma Children’s Theatre has access to some of the best theatre and performing arts facilities and professionals around.
