FOR THE BEST SUMMER OF YOUR LIFE
Who we are & what we do
Oklahoma Children's Theatre has proudly been serving the Oklahoma City Community for over thirty years, bringing live theatre and performing arts experiences to stages and classrooms across the state. Each year we present a professional theatre season, we tour theatre productions to rural communities, we engage with local schools with our in-school literacy programs, we host exciting special events for children, we interact with our community at street festivals and public events, we provide educational opportunities through after-school classes, we develop leadership skills through our teenage Youth Advisory Board, we host snow day camps when school is out, and much more.
Every summer we offer a wide range of summer camps for Oklahoman children, including Preschool classes, multi-week productions, and a massive collection of week-long day camps in theatre, visual arts, dance, Broadway, magic, video game design, filmmaking, and dozens of other specialty subjects. Whether you're a family looking for friendly and affordable daycare throughout the summer season, or just interested in providing safe and engaging arts opportunities for your children, our summer camp program is the perfect answer for young people of any age.
Our upcoming 2018 Summer Camp season begins May 29th, 2018.
Explore our Summer Camps Experiences
As we've grown over the last 30 years, so has our program options, with a range of options for every child. But don't let our size overwhelm you, below is a brief description of each of the different summer programs available.
Our Pre-School program is the perfect introduction to the performing arts for your 3-4-year-old child, where our youngest students get to wiggle and giggle through an engaging range of age-appropriate activities, games, and crafts while learning to work together as they make a mini performance for their friends and families. Our Pre-School classes run Monday-Friday, from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm and concludes with an end of week performance at the end of the last class. Each summer s
Our week-long camps are the biggest part of our program and run all summer long. Each week we present a range of exciting classes in a range of disciplines, including theatre, dance, magic, filmmaking, video game design, and much, much more. All of our week-long camps are separated by age not experience, and our expert instructors tailor each class to the talents of their students. These summer day camps run Monday to Friday from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm each day, with optional Extended Care available from 8:00 am - 6:00 pm. All of our camps conclude with a final viewing, with performing arts classes presenting their work in our Friday recital, and our arts and design classes presenting a viewing of their work. These performances are always free to attend.
Our ArtLAB programs are an exciting collaboration between Oklahoma Children's Theatre and the Oklahoma City University School of Visual Art. Carefully tailored for our older students, these intensive art classes run parallel to our week-long camps, running at same time, from 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Monday to Friday. All of our ArtLAB classes are designed to teach older children and teens to embrace creative thinking as they encounter a range of artistic disciplines and interactive workshops. All ArtLAB take place in the professionally equipped Norick Art Center, located one block north of our main building on the campus of Oklahoma City University and conclude with a public art gallery style viewing at the end of each week.
Young Company: Summer Stock!
Our summer wouldn't be complete without the excitement of productions hitting the big stage. Each summer we bring four great shows to life, including two Main Stage Shows, and two Stage-Two productions.
Mainstage Shows are part of our regular season and include a demanding rehearsal period and a longer public run. These shows are perfect for young actors aged 11-16, who are looking for an intensive production experience. These shows have in-depth rehearsal periods, and auditions are required
Our Stage-Two shows are carefully designed for young actors who are new to productions, as well as students who aren't quite old enough for our Main-Stage shows. Each of these shows run over a two-week rehearsal period and conclude with three final performances.
